Henrico, VA—A mother is facing charges, after her 7-week-old baby girl was ejected during a two-car crash in Henrico and suffered head injuries.

On Sunday November 4, 24-year-old Tiara D. Smith was holding her baby in her lap in the front seat of the vehicle when it crashed into another vehicle at 3 PM. The accident occurred at the intersection of East Laburnum Avenue and Pinalto Drive.

A four-year-old girl was unrestrained in the back seat, and was also taken to the hospital after the crash; the child showed no visible injuries.

Smith has been charged with two counts of felony child neglect. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Timothy Smith, and has been charged with failure to yield and two counts of failure to use an approved child safety seat.

Child Protective Services has been notified of the situation, according to police.
