Woman Won't Serve Jail Time In Fatal Hit & Run Case

Posted: Updated:

Richmond, VA— The woman found guilty in a fatal Shockoe Bottom hit and run will not serve any jail time, after receiving a two-year suspended sentence Wednesday afternoon.

37-year-old Jennifer Slemp was found guilty in the August hit and run death of 25-year-old David Boyd, whom she struck with her vehicle outside Shockoe Bottom bar, Sine. Another person was also injured in the incident.

Although Slemp's two year sentence was suspended, she will have to perform 500 hours of community service. In court on Wednesday, Slemp sobbed with remorse during the entire sentencing.

In testimony in August, witnesses described seeing Slemp's vehicle strike the victims outside of Sine. They said the vehicle slowed after the collision, then took off from the scene.

The defense argued that blood found on the vehicle was not a DNA match to Boyd.
