RICHMOND, VA—The GRTC Transit System announced upcoming changes to its routes and fares.
Bus riders will notice a difference in routes and fares, starting December 17.
One of the changes riders will notice is a fare decrease on the Express Route 95. That trip will cost riders $3.50, down from $5.00.
The new schedule will also eliminate a total of two trips.
The changes come after updates in July caused ridership to drop by 50%.
In July, state funding was cut, forcing GRTC to raise its rates and cut more than half of their trips.
The December changes are in an effort to bring back riders, the company said.
A public meeting, discussing the upcoming changes will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the GRTC Building located at 1013 East Main Street.
