NEW KENT, VA—Interstate 64 has reopened after a single-vehicle crash closed lanes Thursday afternoon.
A single-vehicle crash temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the 220 mile marker in New Kent County.
Police said the wreck happened when a truck hauling a trailer lost the trailer after it became loose. The trailer overturned and a backhoe on the trailer fell into the roadway, police said.
The driver of the truck, Jesus Cerritos, 43, of Richmond, was charged with failure to properly secure a load.
No one was injured in the wreck.
The left lane was re-opened by noon. Both lanes were re-opened at 12:30 p.m.
