Hanover, VA—A local woman has been charged in the death of the Virginia State Police Trooper who was struck and killed while directing traffic on Route 30 last month.
Doswell resident Angelica C. Valencia, 27, faces one count of reckless driving for allegedly striking Trooper Fox with her 1992 Jeep Cherokee on October 5. Fox was directing traffic after the State Fair of Virginia, on Route 30 at Theme Park Way in Hanover County.
Valencia's Jeep was traveling east on Route 30 through the intersection, when it struck Fox, who was wearing a reflective safety vest. Several troopers and witnesses lifted the SUV off of Fox, and administered CPR to him.
Fox, 27, was transported to VCU Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
Neither Valencia nor her juvenile passenger were injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
