HANOVER, VA- Hanover Police have identified the pedestrian killed during a Monday night wreck.

Michael J. Mitchell, 53, of Henrico, was killed Monday after being struck by a vehicle.

It happened on Route 1 near Lewistown Road around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Police said a preliminary investigation shows Mitchell was walking in or near the roadway when he was struck by a SUV traveling south on Route 1.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the incident, police said. Charges are not pending at this time.
