Richmond, VA—A burst pipe at an apartment building in the 1200 block of Brookland Park Boulevard displaced 14 people Wednesday afternoon.

Severe flooding from a burst pipe forced eight families comprised of 14 people from their homes inside the Brookland Park Plaza Apartments.

The Red Cross along with non-profit Boaz and Ruth are helping the victims find shelter tonight at a hotel.

"Our volunteers are providing food, shelter and emotional support to the families affected by the flood," said Jonathan McNamara, regional director of donor and media relations for the Virginia Capital Red Cross. "We will work with the families tonight and over the days to come to ensure their individual needs are addressed."
