Richmond, VA—The
Virginia Department of Transportation will hold three public informational
meetings, to give updates on the latest proposal to improve Interstate 95 in Virginia, which includes a potential tolling location in Sussex County.
During the meeting, citizens will have the chance to learn
more about the proposal, ask questions and give feedback and comments.
Of
the proposal, VDOT says: "Revenue from toll collections would be a funding
source to help pay for improvements such as rehabilitating aging bridges,
pavements and other needs. Toll revenues
raised at the Sussex County location would go toward I-95 improvements
south of Richmond."
VDOT also notes that Virginia is one of three
states approved by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to develop a
tolling proposal. FHWA is currently
reviewing the commonwealth's proposal to toll I-95.
Citizens
