Albermarle, VA—A former Boy Scout troop leader has been arrested and charged with forcible sodomy of a juvenile.

David Brian Watkins of Keswick was taken into custody on Wednesday, following a week-long investigation by police.

The investigation began November 21 when an alleged victim—now an adult—reported past sexual abuse by Watkins, when the victim was a member of Watkins' Boy Scout troop.

Police believe other victims may have suffered abuse by Watkins, during his tenure as a troop leader from 2002 until 2008. The investigation of these allegations continues.

Watkins faces five years to life in prison if convicted. He will have a bond hearing on Thursday at 1:30 at the Albermarle County Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Albermarle Police at 434-972-4045.
