UPDATE: All lanes of I-95 north and south in this area have now been reopened.
Colonial Heights, VA—A single vehicle crashed temporarily closed all lanes of Interstate 95 south near the Temple Avenue exit Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:13 PM, and police shut down the highway near Exit 54 to allow a med-flight ambulance to land on the roadway. A sport utility vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, then crossed back through all southbound lanes before striking the jersey wall.
The adult male driver of the vehicle was not wearing his safety belt, and suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. He was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment.
Virginia State Police continue to investigate the crash. Stay with 8News for updates.
