CHESTERFIELD, VA – Police have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection with an accidental shooting in Chesterfield Sunday, which sent a teen to the hospital.
It happened in the 6700 block of Irongate Drive, just off Iron Bridge Road, at about 9:45 PM Sunday night.
A 16-year-old male was accidentally shot. Police are investigating how the 16-year-old suspect involved in the shooting came into possession of the firearm used in the incident. It does not appear that the weapon was owned by the parents of either the suspect or the victim.
The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The 16-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with felonious assault and reckless handling of a firearm.
Police continue to investigate this incident. If anyone has any information concerning this incident they are urged to contact Chesterfield County Police (804)748-1251
