2 VA Tech Football Players Arrested After Explosion

Blacksburg, VA—Two members of the Virginia Tech football team have been arrested, after police say they set off explosive devices near an apartment complex.

Officers responded to the 1600 block of Patrick Henry Drive for reports of an explosion near an apartment.

20-year-old Joshua Trimble and 19-year-old Brian Rody were taken into custody, and charged with manufacturing and detonating an explosive device. Both men are being held on a $2500 bond.

Both Trimble and Rody are redshirt freshmen on the Virginia Tech football team. Trimble appeared in 11 Virginia Tech football games as a Linebacker this season. Rody is a backup freshman player.
