As soon as I saw the tornado warnings on TV, I had to leave the office right away. I had photographed about a dozen tornados in my decade in Oklahoma and if I didn't get into my car before the funnel cloud swept through, I knew I would get stuck in traffic and arrive too late at the scene.More >>
CHESTERFIELD, VA – The driver of a car that crossed the center median and struck another vehicle head-on, leaving one woman dead, has been charged in the wreck.
Caro R. Conde, 53, of Chesterfield, was been charged with failure to maintain control of his vehicle.
Police say Conde was driving a Toyota Camry north on Courthouse Road when it crossed over the center median into southbound traffic and struck a Dodge Ram truck.
Carolyn L. Evans, 70, of Chesterfield, was killed in the wreck. Evans was a passenger in the truck that was struck head-on. She died at the scene, police said.
The wreck happened Friday at the intersection of Courthouse Road and West Providence Road.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to VCU Medical Center.
