Petersburg, VA—A local pastor was sentenced to ten years in prison today, after attempting to arrange sexual encounters with five girls using a false Facebook account and his cell phone.
Curtis Glendell Matthews, 51, has been pastor of the historic Springfield Baptist Church in Dinwiddie County for 15 years.
Matthews pleaded guilty in Petersburg Circuit Court to five counts of using an electronic communication device to facilitate sex with a minor. Five additional pleas were withdrawn by , Petersburg Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Cheryl Wilson, in exchange for his guilty pleas.
Judge Pamela S. Baskervill sentenced Matthews to 85 years in prison, with 75 years suspended.
