Chesterfield, VA—Members of a community in Midlothian held a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy Sunday evening.

The Walton Lake Community gathered at the corner of Walton Lake and Walton Creek Drives at 7:00 p.m. for the event.

Neighboring communities of Queensmill, Walton Park, Charter Colony and Salisbury were also been invited to take part in the ceremony.

All attendees were asked to bring a candle and a teddy bear or other stuffed animal; the toys will be shipped to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and School in Sandy Hook, Connecticut.

Singing and praying were a part of the service, and the Chesterfield County Fire Department rang a bell in memory of each victim.

Questions about the event may be directed to Christine Branin at 804-334-9929 or 804-379-3270.
