Culpeper, VA—A local mother is
facing charges, for allegedly rushing onto a school bus, arguing with the
driver, and hitting her in the face.
The incident occurred on
Friday, December 14 at approximately 3:45 p.m. as an unidentified female bus
driver transported children from Pearl Sample and A.G Richardson
Elementary schools; she
let students off at Amelia Drive
and North Ridge Boulevard.
At one of the stops, a
mother of one of the students, Bethany L. Rudd, approached the bus driver, and
accused her of threatening to kill her son. Rudd allegedly yelled at the
driver, and tried to obstruct the bus door from closing.
The driver reportedly asked
Rudd multiple times to leave the bus. At some point, Rudd's arm became stuck in
the bus door. When the driver opened the door to free Rudd's arm, police,ice say
Rudd hit the driver in the face.
While an investigation
of this incident is on-going, the bus driver reported after the incident that
she had told Rudd's son to sit down on the bus for safety reasons.
Rudd is charged with assault
& battery and trespassing; she was released on a $2500 unsecured bond.
