BRUSSELS, Feb. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for France declined 0.2 percent in December to 113.8 (2004 = 100), following a 0.4 percent increase in November, and a 0.4 percent decline in October.
At the same time, The Conference Board Coincident Economic Index® (CEI) for France, a measure of current economic activity, increased 0.1 percent in December to 104.2 (2004 = 100), following no change in November, and no change in October.
Although the LEI for France decreased twice in the last three months, its six-month growth rate remains in positive territory. Meanwhile, the CEI for France started to pick up in December after a slight decline during the past year. Taken together, the recent behavior of the composite indexes suggests that economic activity may recover slowly in the near term.
About The Conference Board Leading Economic Index® (LEI) for France The composite economic indexes are the key elements in an analytic system designed to signal peaks and troughs in the business cycle.
