Driver Charged In Chesterfield Wreck That Injured 12

CHESTERFIELD, VA—The driver of a SUV that ran a stop sign and hit a medical van, injuring 12 people, has been charged.

Derrick K. Stremovihtg, 21 of Powhatan, has been charged with reckless driving and possession of marijuana.

Police say Stremovihtg was driving a Dodge Durango when he ran a stop sign and collided with a medical van that was nine transporting patients with special needs.

Two people, the driver and a passenger in the SUV, suffered serious injuries. Ten others, all occupants in the van, suffered minor injuries.

The wreck happened at the intersection of Hopkins and Kingsland Roads in Chesterfield early Thursday evening.

Video of the crash shows a red SUV running a stop signs and hitting the side a medical van.
