    State Police are assisting authorities in Sussex County as they search for a man who fled into the woods Tuesday afternoon.

HOPEWELL, VA—Hopwell Police have arrested a man they say shot another person, injuring them in the face.

Jayvon Antione Dennis, 22, of Petersburg, was arrested and charged with burglary, aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Langston Park Dr. for reports of a shooting early Thursday morning.

Officers located a victim in the median of Winston Churchill Dr. just west of Langston Park Dr.

The victim had extensive visible injuries to his mouth and face as a result of a gunshot wound, police said. The victim was taken to Southside Regional Medical Center, and has since been released.

Police said the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Dennis turned himself in at Riverside Regional Jail. He is held without bond.
