RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Leaders in the health care, government, non-profit and business communities are joining together to examine health care in Virginia.
The Virginia Center for Health Innovation on Wednesday launched the effort to develop the Virginia Health Innovation Plan.
Officials say the working groups will examine ways to improve results in key areas, including early childhood, chronic disease care, physical and mental health care. They'll also look at improving ways to educate consumers on buying health care, as well as the effectiveness of the health care workforce.
Gov. Bob McDonnell says the effort will help identify ways to improve both the delivery of health care and the way patients pay for it.
Each work group will submit demonstration project ideas for inclusion in the three-year plan by the end of March.
