CHESTERFIELD, VA—Chesterfield County Police are conducting a death investigation after a man was found shot to death inside his home Wednesday night.
It happened around 10 p.m. at a home on Ronaldton Road, between Courthouse Road and The Powhite Parkway.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 32-year-old Brian Long dead inside a home.
Jameshai Rhashad Smith, 20, of Chesterfield, has been charged with first degree murder, shooting into an occupied residence, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police say Long was in a relationship with Smith's mother. The three lived in the same home, and police said the incident is believed to be a domestic situation.
Smith's mother, Carmeka Dunston, says she watched her son shoot and kill her boyfriend Wednesday night, as the 32-year-old victim ate his dinner.
Smith is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail without bond pending a Thursday court appearance.
Police continue their investigation; anyone with any information should contact the Chesterfield County Police (804)748-1251.
