HENRICO, VA—A two-alarm fire that broke out at an apartment complex in Henrico County's East End injured three people, including a firefighter, and displaced more than a dozen people Christmas Day.
The fire broke out at the Coventry Gardens Apartment complex on Newbridge Circle just before noon Christmas Day.
Three people, including a firefighter, were injured in the fire and were taken to an area hospital.
Three people in a neighboring apartment unit saw the fire and went door-to-door alerting residents, officials said.
Two the people suffered minor injures and were taken to the hospital. One suffered minor smoke inhalation while the other injured his ankle, according to fire officials.
One firefighter was also taken to the hospital, after suffering an ankle injury.
The fire broke out in one apartment unit and then spread to an adjacent unit, fire officials said. When crews arrived on scene, there was heavy fire coming from the building.
The fire damaged eight units and displaced approximately 16 people. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
