Body Found After Richmond House Fire

RICHMOND, VA—One person was found dead inside a Richmond house fire early Wednesday morning, fire officials confirm.

An elderly woman who lived at the home was unaccounted for when the fire broke out early Wednesday morning. Police have not said if the victim is the homeowner.

The fire broke out at a home on Pine Crest Avenue and W 49th Street in Richmond.

When fire crews arrived on scene, they found heavy fire coming from the back of the home.

The second floor of the home was partially collapsed and continued to collapse as fire crews worked to knock down the flames.

When fire crews completed a full search of the building, they found the body of an adult victim.

The victim has not been identified, and fire officials said they are unsure if the person is male or female.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
