    State Police are assisting authorities in Sussex County as they search for a man who fled into the woods Tuesday afternoon.

Richmond, VA—A man in his late twenties was found dead of a gunshot wound Monday evening near Creighton Court; police are combing the area for suspects.

Officers responded to the scene, located at 29th and Newbourne Streets in Richmond Monday evening just before 6:00 p.m., for reports of a body found in the street.

The victim has been identified as Michael Excell Alexander, 28.

Residents in the area told officers that they saw two individuals fleeing the scene of the crime; both suspects were black males, wearing all black.

Officers continue their investigation of this incident; anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
