Richmond Police Chief Named Finalist For Raleigh Job

RICHMOND, VA—Richmond City Police Chief Bryan Norwood has been named a finalist for a position as police chief in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to Raleigh City Manager Russell Allen.

Chief Norwood has served as the City's police chief since 2008. He replaced Rodney Monroe who left Richmond to become the police chief in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He began his career with the New Haven, Conn., Police Department in 1989. He was appointed police chief for the Bridgeport, Conn., Police Department in 2006 before assuming the same position in Richmond. He is a graduate of Hampton University.

Other finalists include Raleigh Police Department Interim Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown, and Malik Aziz, the deputy chief of police in Dallas, Texas.
