CHESTERFIELD, VA—Students at Lloyd C. Bird High School have returned to class following an early morning bomb threat Tuesday.
A bomb threat was called into the school Tuesday morning Chesterfield County Police confirm.
Students were evacuated from the school while bomb-sniffing dogs swept the building, police said.
Students have since been allowed to return to the school, after school officials say Chesterfield County Police deemed the building clear.
The school is located at 10301 Courthouse Road.
Students and staff were temporarily relocated to the Chesterfield Technical Center and Gates Elementary School, according to school officials.
The following message was sent to parents from the school:
"Hello, this is Laura Hebert, principal of Bird High School.
I wanted to let you know that our students have been relocated to the Chesterfield Tech Center temporarily while police investigate a suspicious call made to our school.
Our students are safe and being watched over by their teachers. At this time, we are asking parents not to come to school to pick up their children.
We hope to have them back in our building shortly. We will let you know when that occurs."
