House Approves VA's 1st Openly Gay Judge

RICHMOND, Va. (AP)--The vote Monday in the Virginia Senate by which Tracy Thorne-Begland of Richmond became the first openly gay jurist elected to a judgeship by the state's General Assembly. The vote was 28-0 with 12 senators not voting, which is acts as a vote against Thorne-Begland. A yes vote is a vote to confirm the judge.
    
Senators are grouped according to party and vote with their hometowns.
