STAUNTON, Va. (AP) - A Waynesboro man whose pickup truck struck and killed a woman who was mowing her lawn has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Twenty-year-old Stephen J. Vance was sentenced Thursday in August County Circuit Court for involuntary manslaughter.
Media outlets report Vance admitted he had smoked a synthetic drug prior to losing control of his truck and hitting 81-year-old Lucille Wheeler of Fishersville in October 2010.
