Some Richmond parents are upset after their children attended elementary school Tuesday with no heat.
Heaters were down inside Swansboro Elementary School for most of the day Tuesday. According to a teacher who contacted 8News, children wore coats and gloves during classes, making some parents wonder why classes were not canceled.
"Maybe they should have moved the classes to another location or cancelled the class for today," said Raouel Ratliff, whose child attends Swansboro.
Temperatures were in the mid-20s as school began Tuesday morning. Temperatures hovered at about 32 degrees by the time classes let out at 3:30 p.m.
School officials said the heaters started working again by Tuesday afternoon, and did not expect cold classrooms to be an issue Wednesday.
