HENRICO, VA—More
than a 100 friends and family gathered Tuesday night to remember a Henrico County convenience store clerk who was
murdered late Sunday night.
Farooq M. Bhimdi, 64, was shot Sunday night inside the Expressway
Convenience Stores located in the 3500 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike near Byron Street.
When police arrived on scene, they found Bhimdi inside the business
suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to VCU
Medical Center
where he died from his injuries, police said.
While 8News was outside the store Tuesday morning, several people visited,
paying their respects. Many people left teddy bears, flowers and signs. One man
described Bhimdi as a gentle soul who was loved by everyone.
Jamon T. Burroughs, 19, of the 2100 block of Elkridge Lane, has been charged with
first degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, in
connection with Bhimdi's murder.
Burroughs was arrested at a home in the 3800 block of Howard Road near Laburnum Avenue.
