As soon as I saw the tornado warnings on TV, I had to leave the office right away. I had photographed about a dozen tornados in my decade in Oklahoma and if I didn't get into my car before the funnel cloud swept through, I knew I would get stuck in traffic and arrive too late at the scene.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA –A Chesterfield County babysitter faces felony child abuse charges after she confessed that she shook and injured a 2-month-old baby.

Ashley L. Pigg, 25, of the 900 block of Hartford Lane, was charged with malicious wounding and felony child abuse.

Police say Pigg was babysitting a 2-month-old child when she shook the child, injuring the boy. The Commonwealth's Attorney said Pigg admitted to authorities that she became frustrated with the baby's crying, picked him up from his swing and shook him.

The baby suffered bleeding in his brain and retinal damage. He was taken to Chippenham Hospital by his parents and was later transported to VCU Medial Center due to the seriousness of his injuries, police said.

The child is now in stable condition.

Pigg is the mother of a 7-month-old child. She cared for two children from her Chesterfield home. It's unknown if the two children are related, and the other child's age is unclear.

Thursday in court, Pigg's bond was set at $10,000. She is forbidden to be around children under 12, even her own child. She also has to stop caring for children in her home.
