Sources have told 8News that Richmond Police chief Bryan Norwood is likely out of a job.
Norwood was a finalist for the police chief opening in Raleigh, N.C., but found out Thursday he did not get the job. Now, sources have told 8News that Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones is about to shake up city leadership, which includes relieving Norwood of his duties.
8News reporter asked Jones about what sources say is a strained relationship between he and Norwood. His response?
"I get along with everybody," Jones said.
Not so, according to multiple sources 8News spoke with, who said Norwood applied for the Raleigh job because he does not get along with the Mayor.
Jones also said the hundreds of city police officers don't have anything to worry about.
"They don't need to be in any uncertainty the administration stands squarely behind all of the police officers," Jones said.
The police officers aren't so sure, because they haven't had a raise in five years.
"I know officers who have had cold winters because they could not afford oil in their homes," said Stacy Rogers, president of the Richmond Coalition of Police.
