VA—The death investigation of a
man thought to have perished in a fire has been reclassified as a homicide, as
police search for a woman connected to the case.
On Saturday, December 8, police and fire crews responded to
a fire at a home located at 3219
Cofer Road. After the blaze was extinguished, the
body of Walter J. Boone, 77, was found.
A woman who police consider a person of interest was last
seen with Boone before his death. Police would like to identify and interview
her.
This woman is described as a light-skinned African-American,
standing about five feet six inches tall. She has scars on her right cheek.
This brings the total number of homicides for 2012 to 43.
Anyone with information about this crime or the person of
interest's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
