CHESTERFIELD, VA—A Chesterfield County Public Schools teacher charged with assaulting a middle school student has been removed from the school.
Michael S. Harrah, 50, of the 12600 block of Jolly Place, was arrested and charged with assaulting a juvenile male student.
Police say Harrah struck an 11-year-old male student during class January 14. Police say the victim, a student at Matoaca Middle School, was not injured.
Harrah was released on a summons pending trial.
The Chesterfield County Schools System released the following statement:
"This is a very serious charge and the employee was removed from the school over two weeks ago. The employee will not return to the school pending the disposition of the charge and the administrative process."
