NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - A Virginia man who remained on the lam for more than a decade after being indicted for running a marijuana growing operation is set to be sentenced.
Court documents say 61-year-old James Baynor Jr. was indicted in June 2000 after investigators found 174 marijuana plants, methamphetamine and nearly 1,000 grams of harvested marijuana at his Chesapeake car repair business. Baynor fled the state, living under aliases in Florida and then Buckingham County, Va.
Baynor was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in July.
He pleaded guilty in September and faces more than two years in prison when he is sentenced Tuesday in Norfolk.
Baynor's attorney argued his sentence should be reduced because he accepted responsibility and lived a "quiet and simple" life for a decade before being arrested.
