Chesterfield, VA—A police impersonator is on the loose in Chesterfield after the man followed a teenage driver and then got the young boy to pull over his vehicle Tuesday night.

It happened in the Woodlake subdivision off Woolridge Road on Tuesday night.

Police say a man pulled behind a car driving down Highberry Woods Terrace at around 11 p.m.

When the vehicle pulled over, the man approached the victim and stated he was an undercover Chesterfield Police Officer, the victim reported.

The man told the victim he would request they be monitored by radar, the victim reported.

It's an incident that has neighbors worried.

"You never know who you will find next to you on the road," Sophie Lanniel said.

Polcie say the man didn't displace a badge, show an ID or give his name.

If you ever feel uncomfortable, officers say call Police and drive to a well-lit area.

"Now when my kids are outside playing I want to come watch them a little bit closer," said neighbor Beth Coleson.

Police have no knowledge of who this man may be, and are searching for him at this time. If you have any information about this incident, please contact Chesterfield Police at 804-748-0660.
