ACCOMAC, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police officials say the nearly four dozen arsons on the Eastern Shore since November may be the work of a group.
More than 40 arsons have been reported in Accomack County since Nov. 13, 2012.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya told WAVY-TV that the agency is aggressively pursuing lead. She says that based on evidence that's been collected, there may be several individuals working in connection for the majority of the arsons.
Officials have stepped up surveillance and have brought in different types of state, local, and federal agencies.
No one has been injured and a majority of the structures destroyed have been abandoned.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
