POWHATAN, VA— Skeletal remains of small animals were found at the home of a Powhatan County man arrested and charged with animal cruelty after the death of two huskies.

Louis Nigro, Jr. of the 1700 block of Jeter Road, was arrested and charged with two felony counts of cruelty to animals in connection with the death of two Siberian Huskies.

Several small skeletal skulls, as well as the skeletal remains of a very small animal were found at Nigro's home, the Powhatan Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

The remains were discovered as officers executed a search warrant at Nigro's home.

It is unclear the species of the animal remains. They will be forwarded to the appropriate laboratory to determine the species of the remains, the sheriff's office said.

Nigro was arrested in early February after two huskies were found dead.

The dogs' owner, Patrick Obradovic told 8News he reported the dogs, Abby and Jethro, missing January 24. He says the dogs got loose when they dug under this fenced in backyard.

Obradovic said he spent days handing missing posters all around Powhatan County. Eventually a sheriff's deputy came to the home and said the dogs had been found, shot to death, Obradovic said.
