Richmond Shooting Victim Identified; Suspect Sought

RICHMOND, VA—The victim of a Sunday shooting that appeared to be drug-related has been identified; Richmond Police continue searching for the person responsible.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Sunday in the Woodland Heights section of Richmond.

34-year-old Jared P. Ellison was shot near the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and West 34th Street, police said. Ellison was pronounced dead at CJW-Chippenham Medical Center.

Police said the shooting appeared to be drug related.

The gunman escaped in an gold early-2000s model Ford Taurus, driven by a second male, police said.

Forensics detectives processed the scene, and other detectives canvassed the area to speak to neighbors.
