Petersburg, VA—A teenage boy is now in police custody, after a BB gun was discovered in his backpack at Peabody Middle School Tuesday morning.
At about 11:30 a.m., two female students saw the gun in the boy's backpack, and alerted the school's front office.
The school was placed on lockdown for approximately ten minutes during this incident. There were no injuries reported.
The 14-year-old male student is now in police custody at juvenile intake in Petersburg.
Petersburg Schools tell 8News they are in the process of drafting a letter to send to parents about this incident. This is a developing story…stay with 8News for updates.
