BREAKING: Gregory Nelson, Jr. has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for the stabbing death of his pregnant girlfriend, Susana Cisneros. Stay with 8News for updates.

HENRICO, VA—The Henrico County man who plead guilty to first-degree murder in the 2011 death of his pregnant girlfriend is expected to be sentenced in court Thursday.

Gregory Nelson plead guilty to first-degree murder in October. He confessed to killing Susanna Cisneros during a March 2011 argument.

Cisneros was found stabbed to death outside of a West Broad Street fast food restaurant. She was nine months pregnant at the time of her death. Her unborn son was unable to be saved.

Nelson was originally indicted on a capital murder charge because of the unborn baby's death, but prosecutors dropped the capital charge because of a lack of evidence that Nelson intended to kill the fetus.

Nelson faces up to life in prison.
