RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Six organizations in Virginia are receiving funding to support community-based environmental education projects.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the projects will share an estimated $92,000 awarded by the National Nursing Centers Consortium. Individual grants will be between $4,000 and $5,000.

The funding is the first of two rounds of grants that will be awarded.

Grant recipients are Northern Virginia Community College's Annandale Campus, Friends of the Rappahannock in Fredericksburg, the Hampton Clean City Commission, the James River Association, the Meadowview Bio Research Station in Woodford, and Western Virginia Water Authority in Roanoke.
