Richmond, VA—Starting on Friday, finding a parking spot in The Fan might become a little harder: one-hour parking on some streets will be extended to seven days a week.

The streets which will be impacted are in the 1000-1500 block of West Avenue in Richmond, as well as intersecting streets, Birch and Boyd, hear Park Avenue.

In addition, the time for the one-hour limit will be extended from 7 a.m. until midnight.

VCU student David Reisinger currently parks in the area for class, and says the new time limit isn't enough time.

"It does cut it a little close because I usually have classes that are a little bit longer than an hour, so a lot of the time I have to come out of class and remove my car and then go back to class, so it gets a little frustrating," David says.

David would like for the time limit to be a little longer, saying "If it were two-hour parking, it would be a lot more helpful," David says. He adds that he's constantly worried about getting a ticket.

But homeowners in the area are praising the new limits, calling them "fantastic."

Fan Resident Sarah Molenkamp says, "We run into [parking problems] a lot of times, where we come home late at night and it is really hard to find parking. I will drive around for a half hour, especially on weekends or game nights.

The parking limits will take effect on Friday, March 1.
