Louisa, VA—After a racial slur was found on a burning building in Mineral, authorities are looking for answers about the crime.

Shattered glass, charred building and the n-word spray painted on the a burning building were all a part of the disturbing scene in Louisa County, discovered by firefighters Monday night.

Officials haven't revealed whether the vandalism and fire are connected, but the fire department did contact the sheriff's department to help investigate the situation.

"At any point that the fire department thinks that a fire is suspicious for any reason, they would contact the sheriff's department to assist in the investigation," explains Set. Scott Reynolds of the Louisa County Sheriff's Department.

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze, and if anyone may have intentionally started it. They are turning to the community for help.

"We welcome any input the community might have to supplement the investigation," said Det. Reynolds.
