MIDLOTHIAN, VA—Greenery from part of a landscaping project along Midlothian Turnpike near Chesterfield Towne Center is set to be removed as the Virginia Department of Transportation prepares for new construction.
The medians along Midlothian Turnpike from the mall entrance to Mall Drive and from Johnston Willis Drive to Southlake Boulevard will be torn up as the project begins, according toRay Birk, chairman of the Midlothian Initiative to Revitalize Rights of Way (MIRR).
The group, composed of business owners, worked on the beautification project and landscaping project just three years ago. But now, some of that work will be removed to make way for the new construction.
The construction is slated to start Sunday and is expected to be completed in May.
