Chesterfield, VA—A local
groomer is putting dog owners on alert, after one of his clients said a man
threatened to kill all of the dogs in a local dog park; his client adds that
her dog became sickened after eating a piece of paper the man dropped onto the
ground.
Last week, one of Tome
Tusia's clients called to warn people in the area that a suspicious man made a
threat against canines in Rockwood Park in Chesterfield.
The woman told Tusia
that the unidentified man went inside the dog park's gate, threatened to kill
her dog, and then dropped a piece of paper. The dog ate it.
"He got very ill,"
Tusia says of the dog. "He had to be on IV fluids, I'm not sure for how many
days, but both of his arms were shaved, he had IVs in both legs."
Volunteers at the park
are in shock. Volunteer Julius Smith is in disbelief about the alleged
incident.
"Something like
this is just devastating, and I can't understand why somebody would want to do
something like that."
And on Wednesday,
another volunteer received a disturbing call from a dog owner, reporting a suspicious
person at the park.
Volunteer Sarah Thornton
wants to take action: "We have to take it to the point where if somebody
was going to give something poisonous to our child...we need to look at it that
way and band together and report it."
The volunteers have
vowed to sick together and keep an eye out for the suspicious man, and to keep
all the dogs in the park safe.
