HERNICO, VA—A proposal to build a cell tower between two Henrico County schools has parents dialing up frustration.
A cell phone tower could soon soar 184 feet, smack between Byrd Middle and Pemberton Elementary Schools in Henrico County.
The proposal has some parents concerned.
Patrick Swanson has a daughter at the elementary school, and to say he's shocked with the proposal is an understatement.
"We don't know what the health concerns are, and we don't know what the health concerns are specifically for young children," said Patrick Swanson a parent of a Pemberton Elementary School student.
Swanson says he received a letter from the company behind the proposal last week, but has yet to be notified by the school.
And it's not just parents who are upset about the proposal, those who live near the site say they're also concerned.
"You can't get away from it, it is extremely large," said Beverly Lammary who lives near the proposed site.
Henrico County says the school board owns the land between the schools, and nTelos, the company behind the project, they could lease it if they gain county approval.
The next meeting is set for March, and if everything stays on schedule, the board should vote on the plans in April.
