RICHMOND, VA--Richmond Police say robbery was likely the motive behind a double shooting that sent two people to the hospital Sunday night.

The first shooting happened shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday in the 3700 block of Delmont Street, just off Laburnum Avenue.

When police arrived at the scene, they found an 18-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his back.

The victim, who was found in the stairwell of an apartment building, was taken to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

A second shooting victim was found just a few blocks away, near the Richmond City—Henrico County line.

The second victim, a 17-year-old, also suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said both victims may have been shot in the same location, and the second victim then walked a few blocks. The victims are not cooperating, and police suspect suspicious activity.

Police said they do not believe there is a threat to the community.

No suspect description was given.
