Search-and-rescue crews worked through the night after a monstrous tornado barreled through the Oklahoma City suburbs, demolishing an elementary school and reducing homes to piles of splintered wood. At least 24 people were killed, including at least seven children, and those numbers were expected to climb.More >>
Release from Virginia State Police:
Virginia State Police have responded to over 200 motor
vehicle crashes statewide since midnight Mar. 6 through 8:00 a.m. this morning.
Of those crashes, 178 have involved property damage. No fatalities have been
reported.
Our busiest areas of the state are our Richmond, Culpeper and
Appomattox Field Divisions. Troopers have responded to and investigated 59
crashes in our Richmond Division, 38 in our Culpeper Division, and 47 in our
Appomattox Division.
Troopers have also assisted 135 motorists throughout the
state.
Dispatchers have also responded to the increased calls for
service as the weather deteriorates throughout the state. 839 calls for service
have come into our Communications Centers.
As of 8:30 a.m. there are 108 calls for service statewide
that troopers and supervisors were actively handling.
