RICHMOND – Virginia State Police Master Trooper J.A. Walker was killed Thursday afternoon (March 7, 2013), following a shooting incident on Interstate 85 near the 45 mile marker in Dinwiddie County. Master Trooper Walker, 63, was assigned to Dinwiddie County in the Department's Area 7 Office in the Richmond Division. The Lawrenceville native was a veteran trooper who served the Commonwealth of Virginia for 35 years.

Dinwiddie - Master Trooper Junius A. Walker, a 40-year veteran of the Virginia State Police, has served the Dinwiddie County community for more than 20 years before his life was taken along Interstate 85 Thursday.
The news of Walker's murder spread fast in the small, tight-knit community.
"I got the news from my wife when she came home, I said 'you gotta be kidding me, not Walker,'" said resident William Parham.
"When I went on my break, my husband called me and told me about it and then when I went in the store other people already knew about it.," said Melva Dibble.
Other residents 8News spoke with knew of Walker and said he was well loved an will be missed.
Russell E. Brown, 28, has been charged with Walker's murder.
